We See You

Daughters Of Hope Resources Society is a grassroots non-profit organization committed to supporting women, children, and vulnerable families within the black and equity deserving communities through housing assistance, employment support, skills-based education, and wraparound support.

Daughters of Hope believes that every individual deserves access to resources and opportunities for a dignified life. Our programs address systemic challenges by offering culturally tailored support, ensuring inclusivity, and advocating for long-term change.

Through education, financial aid, and housing assistance, we provide the tools for self-reliance and sustainable growth.

Who We Are

We’re here for those who are often overlooked. Whether someone is a newcomer to Canada, a refugee claimant, fleeing violence, or simply trying to make ends meet — we step in where others step back. With culturally responsive services and a deep commitment to equity, we walk alongside families as they reclaim stability, self-worth, and opportunity.

Our Impact

Building Pathways to Employment and Integration. Our employment and settlement services are more than just programs—they’re life-changing opportunities that help newcomers build a stable foundation, connect with their community, and thrive in their new home.

Economic
Empowerment

We help newcomers gain the skills, tools, and confidence to find meaningful work. From resume writing to interview prep and skills-based training, our programs open doors to employment and financial independence. Participants not only find jobs—they build careers and brighter futures.

Social and Community Integration

Employment is just one piece of the puzzle. We connect individuals and families to vital community resources—from recreation and libraries to language learning and cultural orientation—so they can feel at home and build lasting connections.

Stability and
Well-being

We know that housing, income, and health are deeply connected. That’s why we offer wraparound support—including housing outreach, income assistance navigation, legal support, and more—to help individuals and families find stability and peace of mind.

Education and Skill Building

Through hands-on, skills-based training, English language classes, digital literacy support, and financial education, our participants build the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed—on the job and in everyday life.

Creating Systemic Change

We work in collaboration with local partners, government, and community agencies to create more inclusive systems. Together, we’re helping to build stronger, more equitable communities—where everyone has a fair chance to succeed.

Every donation, every volunteer hour, and every act of kindness contributes to these life-changing moments.

What an incredible evening celebrating this year’s BIG Ideas Grant recipients hosted by Nneka Otogbolu MScIM, MBA, BSc. with the Foundation for Black Communities (FFBC) and Vancouver Foundation on Wednesday, July 8th in Vancouver. We were inspired by Djaka Blaise, co founder of FFBC and CEO of Hogan's Alley Society, whose vision has opened doors for funding grassroots Black led organizations like ours. It was great to witness the strength of community support in the room, with Vancouver Foundation's CEO Kate Hammer, Mebrat "Mimi" Beyene VP Grants and Community, and Government partners including Lisa Dominato, Vancouver City Councillor, MA, GCB.D, Jenny Kwan MP, and Deputy Premier Niki Sharma, who joined in the celebration.Wonderful to hear the impact of the program from grant recipients Jacky Essombe and Kayo Toyin Ajayi, whose work strengthens our collective impact.Heartfelt appreciation to Chyann Baker Castronaro for the moving spoken word performance that closed the evening. Her words stayed with us long after we left the room.We cannot forget to thank Foundation for Black Communities for funding Daughters of Hope Resources Society in 2025. Your support directly propelled our housing program forward, and we are profoundly grateful for your continued belief in our work.Evenings like this remind us why community funded, community led initiatives matter. Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke up, and continues to invest in Black led organizations across British Columbia. Here’s to more milestones ahead. 💛#LetsCelebrateBig #foundationforblackcommunities #DaughtersOfHopeResourcesSociety #communitysupport #VancouverFoundation #blackledorganizations #bigideas ... ✨ One year. Five women. Two children. Countless lives changed. As our Big Ideas Grant 2.0 journey with the Foundation for Black Communities comes to a close, we’re pausing to reflect — and to celebrate what’s possible when communities invest in each other. 💛Through the Welcome House, we provided safe housing and employment support that helped Black women and their children build real, lasting stability. One story that stays with us: a woman trained as a doctor in Cuba arrived without speaking English. Through sheer determination — and the right support — she completed her pharmacist job training and landed full-time employment in her field. 🙌🏾That’s the power of believing in people.None of this would have been possible without the Foundation for Black Communities , the Government of Canada, and every single person who showed up for this work. Thank you. 🤍We’re not stopping here. We’re actively seeking funding to grow this program and continue building pathways to opportunity, stability, and economic inclusion. The foundation is laid. The work continues. 💪🏾#Gratitude #CommunityImpact #BIG2 #BlackLedOrganizations #HousingStability #EmploymentAccess #NonprofitImpact #WelcomeHouse #BlackWomen #EconomicInclusion ... See MoreSee Less
